these are some birthday cards I made, which can easily be adapted for an invitation
and some christening invitations (I knew I had some pics somewhere)
thanks for sharing - I stumbled across the "1" - blue and silver one earlier - its very effective.
My brief is PINK, BUSY, GIRLY... eakkk
I have one in my gallery that was designed for a 1st birtday or christening. The 1st birthday one that I did I used a handprint on one side and alongside it wrote the invite in childlike writing. And instead of RSVP in the normal format I wrote RSVP my mummy and daddy at................ it did look really cute and the invite was written on torn paper so looked as though a child had been helping to assemble.
I've been using flickr lately to search for ideas for various projects so might be worth looking there too
I think most 1st bday cards could be adapted as someone else said. Depending on how many you have to make, you don't want to make them too busy. For my DD's first bday I stuck a photo of her in the middle around a hand cut frame etc - would they like a pic on? I wouldn't normally use a pic but for a first bday it's a cute idea!
Here's one I made recently for a first birthday card. There are loads more on my blog (I make quite a few toddler cards as my DD is 2!). If you go on, they are under labels - birthdays - children... HTH

OMG who sends out invites to a 1st birthday? It can't just be me that thinks that's a complete waste of money can it?
i received one recently that was a ladybird, and the 'wings' opened to reveal the invite underneath! and no i dont see it any more of a waste than wedding invites, older birthday invites, christmas cards . . . . . . Surely that 1st birthday is THE most special!
What a great idea MHM! I don't think they are a waste of money either. That first birthday is most special to the parents - the child doesn't have a clue but relatives etc do and a lot of them keep them esp if they do have a pic on the front :)
oh i'd forgotten that idea - although I need a photo of her!!
