I dont really know that much about it and would like some opionions on it.

Also which dies can you use on it?

I have a sizzix machine and i use sizzix cuttlebug and quickutz but i find it abit awkard and it takes so long to do qk on sizzix- other than a qk squeeze is there any other good die cutters for qk?

I've had a sizzix for about 3 years and have used it loads.
I recently discovered QK dies and don't find they cut that well in it so was looking for an alternative.
I have just taken the plunge and bought a Bigshot which is great. I have ordered the multi-purpose platform which means you can cut any other manufacturers dies.
Qk dies also cut really well in the sidekick/tag-a-long with the black plastic adapters (about £4 for a pack of 10) which is a cheaper alternative.

    Hope this helps you.

i have a Big Shot - but only really use it for chipboard - if you can run to it - why not consider the Cricut - it is heaps better IMO

I have a QK, a Zip-e-Mate, a Sidekick, a Sizzix and a Big Shot that takes dies. I also have a Craft Robo, but haven't had any proper time to play with that one yet!!

Of the traditional die cutters I would personally recommend the Big Shot. It copes really well with all the dies I've thrown at it so far, and although still big and heavy compared to the Wizard, I find it easier to cart around than the original Sizzix.

The Big Shot will certainly take all Sizzix originals (green, yellow, red and the blue alphabets) as well as the Ellison Thick Cuts. It also takes the Sizzlets and the Ellison Thin Cuts. And I regularly use mine for Quickutz (and QK compatible) dies....

It certainly cuts the Sizzlets/Thin Cuts/QK better than my Sizzix ever did, and my Sizzix didn't like mountboard which is a doddle in the Big Shot (with the Sizzix original or Ellison Thick Cut dies)

    Apols for hijacking this thread

I just wanted to say thanks for asking this question and for CW18 for answering in detail about Big Shot

I have had the sizzix for around 5 years now and it's starting to show old age with the odd creaky noise coming from it now. Also have the sidekick starting to show worrying signs of something gonna give. Previously had the QK but sold that on cos it was difficult to sqeeze!

Have been contemplating the Big Shot more recently.

    Thanks again

Hi, I have the big shot, zipemate, wizard, double do, quickutz original, quickutz squeeze, craft robo and cricut, and I tend to use my big shot the most as it is the most versatile. I have found that one of the cutting pads from the wizard actually fits into the big shot instead of a lot of the little black adaptors which you will need to use for the QK dies, and so doesn't move around as much as they do hence making the job of cutting multiple QK dies easier. The zipemate is great too, but you then have to buy extra cutting mats for all the extra dies, so works out quite expensive. I have checked out the Silouhette but the dies you can actually download at the moment dont seem to be similar to the actual QK dies at all, and I am not too keen on them. So all in all, expense wise and most versatile is the big shot.
Hope this helps. If you are interested in which the cutting mat is for the wizard which will help with the QK dies I will look it up for you.

    Take care

    Linda

Linda, you wouldn't believe the stick I've had in the past for having a 'reasonable selection' of them

I love my Bigshot, it takes Thick Cuts, Thin Cuts, Sizzix Original dies, Sizzlets, QK ordinary and Revolution, Bosskut, Accucut dies (Zip-e-slims) and Cuttlebug dies.

It cuts chipboard with Thick Cuts, Sizzix Originals and Cuttlebug dies

    I wouldn't be without it
