    Acrylic paints...and acid free?!

I was just wondering the other day that as i use acrylics to paint my chipboard that r they fotosafe?I tend to assume that everythig made for papercrafts should be acid and lining free and fotosafe but to be honest half of the things dont actually say how safe they r or so.So now i am wondering how safe my photos really r?!
Aswell does it makes any dif if u use something what aint acid free on your page but if its not touching the photo...or it shouldnt be on the page at first place?...

I would seriously doubt that any 'chipboard' is lignin free and probably not acid free unless the packaging says so, as most is made from recycled paper.

I think acrylic paint is OK, but I never use the only copy of a photo I have, anyway

Me neither, but it'd be good to know. I think acrylic paint would have to be able to stand the test of time anyway because it's used by many artists who obviously don't want their work 'expiring' after 25 years As for photos....hmmmmm.

I did found some chipboard letter packs from some site and it sayd the r free of everything and photosafe etc...but most of them dont say anything so who knows...
Same time if they wouldnt be then it would be pointless to use them if they will be makeing your work look all horrible one day...hmhmh....like i said b4 i tend to think that if its made for scrapbooking then it has to be all good...lol maybe i should stop thinking like this...just in case i have some bad suprices one day when i open my scrapbooks and they dont look as good as they should

ps. so lets say they r not acid free etc will they still be affectin your photos and so if they wont be touching it but r used on the same LO??

    Doh im so confused 2day...

They could damage your photos if they are not acid/lignin free, yes. I'm prepared to take the risk!

Well no, obviously not if they don't touch or aren't near....

The only things that are reliably safe are those that say so, or 'archival' materials.

.....not necessarily could be 11" away.....

The chemicals could leach out and affect the surrounding area, e g. discolour - how far it might spread, or if it will affect anything, who knows......

Hmm as far as I know ALL Acrylic paints are acid free. But if you want it on the label then the Dabbers state that they are acid free and non toxic ( even the metallics). They are perfect for chipboard and not half as messy as a brush LOL !!!

We have ALL the colours in stock at the mo too

Most people use a mix of a/l free and non on their layouts - personally I don't get too hung up on it but if they are precious non digi or heritage photos I try and keep any thing I'm not sure off away from the piccies.
