I love the baubles these seem to be back in fashion I've seen them on loads of sites I remember making them from recycled Chritmas cards over 35 years ago when I was a mere teenager!!!

Can you tell me how you made the stars I couldn't work it out from your blog are they just strips of paper or are they shaped at the ends??

    Have a look here Linda
    http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/my_...gone-live.html

there is a video tutorial showing how to make them, plus you can make this version by cutting into the edge and stopping before the end.

That's a great tutorial, but not how I was taught to do it as a child. I use 3 x ~4" squares (and looking at the pattern distribution of Passionflower's I think that she does it the same way). I will try to post a tutorial sometime if it is wanted (but I'm busy tonight), it's very simple though.

Ooh please do Fi, I am trying to work it out using squares so an explanation would be so useful, thanks.

Fifi I know what you mean about the other way of doing it unfortunately I have made those from leftovers and had to do it concertina way, the ones you described give you a much better shape star tho and there s another way of doing them from one piece wich you cut and score they look very nice too, in fact if you ve got a SU catalog they have them in there
Linda I remember doing those ornaments with my grandma as a little girl for our tree, so 35 years ago is very acurate I am now 33

It's funny I made them with my Grandad when I was little, he also taught me how to make a box, a boat and most importantly a big hat!

A quick pictureless tutorial, see if it makes sense.

Take a 4" square of card, fold in half diagonally and then unfold.

Fold 2 opposing corners to the halfway fold to make a hex shape (or square with corners chopped off if you think of it that way).

Fold this in half along the long diagonal fold, and then fold (to get a trapezium), and fold this in half along the long length and open out.

    Repeat twice more.

Lay ontop of each other all in same orientation. Staple in middle.

Open out and secure the rear edges (double sided tape looks better, but I used staples as a kid). The front edges are the long sides.

I will post with photos late tonight or tomorrow.

As promised a christmas star photo tutorial, never done this before, so I hope it makes sense. Let me know if not.
