Can you change the colour of

i was wondering something like alcohol inks might stain them?

It's only a guess, but I would bet alcohol inks could alter the silver or light colored ones

Yes dawn you can. You'll need some rubber gloves if using alcohol inks, and it looks much better when you do both inside and out. The colour shows up a lot better on the white wires than on the silver ones.

Here is one where i did just the outside of the wires, did one inside last night and it looks much better!
