Specialising in 3D Templates
question for silhouette users
Hi I use Craftrobo and design all my templates using Robomaster - I have been email by some silhouette owners who want to use my templates GSD format
Can some please confirm that you can use
GSD files easily with Silhouette also
I presume that you just down load template and save it as normal in a folder of your choice and then open from the software that comes with the product any info would be helpful
I don't want to say yes and sell somthing that is not going to work for them..

hi chrissie i have a silhouette but i found that any rb templates using the 4.4 upgrade i got the error message .i upgraded the silhouette to 4.5and have not had any problems.
the other solution is to use brians converter.

you can open the robo files in silhouette. if they are made in version 4.4 they would need to update or use Brians converter as silhouette is version 4.2.

As far as I am aware, the silhouette software is higher than the Robo's current upgrade, so they should be able to open the Robo files without any problem.

I am a Silhouette user and can use most GSD templates except the ones that I assume have been created with CR 4.4 upgrade

If you have RM 4.5 you should be able to open those aswell.
It isn't about the machine it is about the software.

Hi Hazel, if you are unable to open CR v4.4 files you will need to download the update (issued end of May 08) from the QuicKutz website. You will then be able to open all GSD files.

CR = CraftRobo which is a machine and it doesn't open files. It is the software called RoboMaster 4.4 that opens the files
Yep but I think we all know exactly what we mean. When we prefix the version with CR or Silhouette it defines which machines are being used. We know we are all using RM.

The machine is immaterial if it is the software that is the problem and when people talk about software problems it helps if we know what software they are using rather than the machine.
It is the same when people say 'this machine is driving me nuts' and the problem is really the software. Newbies reading some posts must think that the machine cases all the problems rather than the software and until they get used to the forum they don't know what we are talking about. So for their sake I think we should say what we are really talking about, not assume that everyone knows.
