    Party Topper

I thought as a newbie I ought to give this a try so I used Inkscape which is totally new to me. Everything was fine until the last page and then I spent ages trying to get everything right. Has anyone tried the Inkscape tutorial? I also did it in DM and that was simple enough. I haven't uploaded the file as it was saved as an SVG and then as a DXF and imported it into Robomaster but the poor old cutter didn't like it very much. When I imported it into RM one of the candles was missing? What I do think is really good about the project is that one learns so much about aspects of the software that otherwise might not be used. As many of you use Inkscape there must be a simple way to get a good file into RM but I really need blow-by-blow instructions. If anyone has the time I would be very grateful.

Thank you. I will give it a whirl. So I save it as a bitmap and import it directly into RM - nothing else? I did manage to import the DXF into DM and I cut the top ring with that. It seemed a little less juddery but the DXF was dreadful. I thought the poor old scutter was going to die on me. I don't know what I did but one of the candles is shorter, or perhaps it was lit earlier than the others!

Many thanks, I have just read it. I am definitely not giving up on Inkscape. I think it has lots to offer. As I like DM so much I have just ordered KNK Studio GE. I am probably going to become completely befuddled with all the different software.

Hi Anne, do you do much in Inkscape? I am not sure whether to persevere or just carry on with DM that I so love.

if you want to take a file you have made in Inkscape into Design Master, then it's recommend you save as a EPS rather than a DXF file

I just save all my Inkscape files as an SVG, then I can re-save in whatever format I need when I want to cut it or share with others

There is a tutorial for loading DXF files into RM.

Well done your topper is really good.

there are several of us that have been dreaming about toppers, we have tested and rewritten the tuts so many times.

If it is any comfort, when I do a tutorial and it goes wrong I always start again and I get quicker at doing it each time. Also I will do a tutorial several times to the point where I can do it without reading the tut and I know I'm not the only one those of you who have told me you do the same thing.
