I know it's a bit of a long shot but the Craft Edge peeps who sell the SCAL prog. have a forum...might be worth asking on there - justbecause there are lots of people who know a lot about their machine!!

    hi

I have been dithering about getting an expression or a craft robo, after checking on this thread I am gonna go with an expression mainly because I think the robo will be too techy for me, IYKWIM!
Especially now I know that with the SCAL software i will be able to cut any font!
Is it worth buying this from a US site or a british one?

Could some one PM me the best place to buy both here and the US?

    thanks in advance

Yay! Just found out that the Cricut cuts through that lovely velvet paper with no probs at all. I decided to give it a go (at the risk of wasting half a sheet), but it went through a dream (speed = 3, pressure = 4 if you're interested).

SCAL is short for Sure Cuts a Lot. It is a program which looks a lot like Cricut Design Studio except that it lets you cut out fonts and shapes that are on your computer rather than on cartridges you've had to buy first. You can draw your own shapes using a free program called inkscape, then SCAL will cut them out for you, or you can download free shapes, fonts and dingbats from the internet and cut those!

There is a social group for SCAL, people there will be able to tell you more.

It can be used with both the original Cricut, and the larger Cricut Expression (I have used it on both). I dunno about the recently launched Cricut Create.

Thank you so much. Was looking at these when i went to Florida. May be worth getting if I can use it with SCAL. I think that they only cost about £90.

Someone on the Cricut SG has bought a Cricut Create and the SCAL software is NOT compatible with it. Not surprised by this as Provocraft did say they were going to block it. Perhaps SCAL might do an update in the future to get over this but at the moment it's not useable on it.

If you scrap rather than a card maker I would go for the expression, purely for the size it will cut to for one reason, it also has much more " bits" on it. The little cricut ( first one) will only cut 6" x 12" the expression is 12 x 24. The create is the little bug with some of the facilities of the expression on it but still only cuts 6 x 12.

    Hi

The lead from the jukebox goes from the cartridge slot on the machine to the back of the jukebox itself and so I would think it must be the same in both the USA and UK. My only problem now is that one doesn't seem enough as I have lonely cartridges sitting on my shelf
