Not a quote as such but i love this that we used for 18th birthday for our DDs.

    Our wish for you...
That in your life, which is so precious to us,
    may troubles, worries and problems never linger;
may they only make you stronger and more able and wise.
May you rise each day with sunlight in your heart,
    success in your path,
answers to your questions and that smile - that we love to see -
    always there in your eyes.

    These are my favourite verses.

A daughter is just a little girl who grows up to be a friend.

    A Daughter's Gift

    When I imagine
    the life you will live,
    I think of the pleasure
    your presence will give.

I see the joy your smile will light
    and the wonders you'll weave
    when your dreams take flight.

    I feel the hope
that will grow with your grace
    and the difference you'll make
    to each heart you embrace.

    I imagine your life
    as I know it will be;
    for, my daughter, you've given
    all this to me.

    My Daughter

You'll never really know, my dear,
Just how much you mean to me,
A mother's love, buried so deep,
That only my heart can see.

When I sit and really stare at you,
All I can do is grin,
    Somewhere down deep inside,
    I see myself within.

I'd never change a thing in you,
I thank God that your so fine,
Even when your at your worst,
I'm so proud that you are mine.

    The roads we have traveled,
    were not always that good,
I would take back all the pain you've felt,
    Only if I could.

I know that I'm not perfect,
It's the best that I can do,
But everyday, I thank the lord,
For a daughter as special as you.
    Val x

Pam, that brought tears to my eyes and you have made a beautiful book.

All I managed to come up with for my DD's 18th was a quote from JFK: "We should not let our fears hold us back from pursuing our hopes". It was a pre-printed quote on vellum which I put in her card (then it got lost in the post and didn't turn up in time for her birthday!!)

I love the poem 'the road not taken' by Robert Frost for times like this, looking forward into the future, not quite knowing what it will hold, i used this on a christening LO too. There's a link to it here.

I am not sure where I found it or who wrote it, I tend to write this type of thing down when I see them, as whenever I need a poem or verse you can bet I can't find anything I like at the time.

Perfect timing. I've just filled an album today for DD's 18th on Friday, but haven't done the journalling. I have to admit that it's a pre-planned one from SEI Aunt Gerti's Garden, which I got not long after I started scrapping, because I so loved the papers, and it's been so simple to fill in, at a time when I'm sooooooooooo busy that I couldn't do an ambitious album or minibook. So, sort of cheating, but that's OK, I reckon! I do love the words you've used, Ginny, and may 'lift' them if that's OK?
