Nestabilities Embossing/tan mat
Hi
I have been reading some tips on useing the cuttlebug with the Nestable dies and I've come across a sub for the tan mat, it seems to be call 'plumb packing' and it's cheap so you can cut it up with no worries but it's in the US and I can't find any thing like it here.
Has anyone found anything that will work here ??
thanks

It is not advisable to use anything put a proper tan or red embossing mat especially in the Cuttlebug. Other mats have been know to break the 'bug, including the black one that is supposed to be for the 'bug. Much better to spend a bit more money on a proper mat than have to buy a new machine. The ones designed for the Wizard machine are fine as are tan ones available on the auction site.

Let the good times roll.........
With the cut and emboss dies I've always just used wedges of card, using the standard A, C, die facing up, 2 pieces of card and B plate on top.
The bottom piece will cut and emboss and the top piece will just give you an embossed impression. It's worth a try before buying a mat to see if you're happy with that. I think if you want to emboss with things like brass stencils you need a mat.

I agree with Liz, about the mat - if you are going to emboss the edge of cut dies you defo need the Spellbinder tan mat and no other. The tan mats are quite reasonably priced - there is a link on the side bar of my blog of a supplier. It's not worth the risk of breaking your bug! You could also look up my tutorial on embossing dies using an embossing pen then you won't need the mat!

Hi, we are talking about two different types of embossing. The Tan mat is for embossing the edges of Dies, not for partially embossing folders. The other mats used are for embossing folders without the B Plate. You can make a thick shim to the width you require it will do the same process. Check out this link you will see it works.
