Something I've just found (I expect you all knew this already) If you select a pattern from the Fill Pattern Window then type some text it types ready filled with the pattern.
I'm having trouble with drawing a curved shape, it keeps breaking into pieces and when I go to join up at the end it disappears, is anyone else finding this?

Ruth
I've just tried it using the tool in the circle on my screenshot below, and it worked fine, is that the tool you're using Ruth?
Oh yes Doreen, for some reason I'd never tried that one, see what you mean. Though, having just tried it I do find your button more vague and you can't 'anchor' it so well as you go round. But i guess it's what you're used to and you get the same result in the end.
Sue was right you can put jpgs into your library but you drop them into my patterns in the library you can also use pngs bmps gifs wmfs and they will show in the fill pattern at the bottom in my patterns except for the wmf. type your text it does not have to be sellected and drop them into individual letters or select all text and drop one into all letters or any shape.
Thanks for all this info, i had planned on continuing reading the posts, but you lot have got me all excited and now i want to go and play and see if it works for me too!
I wouldn't load them in the library, it will slow down your computer because it has to load everything in Studio font/backing papers/your own designs, every time you open the programme. Put your backing papers and designs in a folder on your desktop or my documents and use them from there
I use another way to fill my designs with my own pattern. I also do not want to slow my program, and I want to increase the size of my pattern or decrease just what I like the fill to be.
I make my file, open a jpeg in the same file place it behind the design, select image and design together and intersect or crop. There is adifference between intersect and crop although it not always looks that way.
crop tends to weld characters together when I do crop,
intersect can not fill a group characters. Wether they overlap or not. Both the caracters and the image disapear. But intersect can fill a compound path.
Got to play with the pan option. maybe I can do it quicker with the help of the pan tool. I think however that it is easier to use a special spot on a photo to crop from the old way because I can place my design where I want it to crop. With pan I will have to wait till the right spot turns up.
I made a workshop (actually 3 video's about this tecnique) for my Dutch members and a little video for my american friends. The little video does not explain everything but is published for everyone to see. http://www.youtube.com/user/meadelie?feature=mhee
The top playlist shows all the public video's for everyone to see. Mostly answers to questions. Some Dutch, some English, some with captations and some only spoken.
Enjoy!
