Is there a prize for daftness this year?
I only ask cos I think I might have won it.
For quite a few years I've had a set of those fancy scissors that cut pretty edges. I often used to grumble that sometimes you had to hold the card the other way round to get the edge shape the right way.
Last night, I realised... you just turn the scissors over.
oh dear.
(as my mother says, I do have a degree you know)

Lol! That does sound rather like one of my moments...
On a serious note, may I just say, without wishing to read too much into it, lol, that this is one of the problems I have with 'ability grouping' in the classroom. I've seen plenty of children who were supposedly in a 'lower ability' group, grasp a concept in maths much more quickly than the 'higher ability' group, who simply overthought it!

I'd never claim common sense was one of my attributes!

Me neither, my dad used to say that I was all brains but no common sense. I don't think I'm that brainy and I have a little more common sense than I had but not that much
