I think what Tina said makes perfect logical sense about extending the blade a notch and decreasing the pressure to compensate, so that the blade housing doesn't catch any bits of card that might stick up.
Yes Lucille I use the pressure in the mid twenties and have dense black foam at back of my Cameo and my keyboard at the front, so well supported. Re-sprayed my mat too.
Gone back to using my Robo blade as it is far easier.
Just noticed when checking my blade the white plastic on the underside has four tiny weeny bits of plastic sticking up on one side. Is this from the making process? If they were all the way around then could be to have a tiny gap between blade unit and card, but they are just on one side.

Touch wood as yet I havent had a problem with the ratchet blade but havent cut anything really intricate yet -
however I do find the whole blade and housing very flimsy - whether thats because I am used to using my pazzles which has a metal ratchet balde housing (i think cricuit and the new knk are all similar) you pay a bit more for the first set but then the blades are in 2s or 3 bit I always felt confident with this blade - mmm would have been a better solution mee thinks thanwhat they came up with - copied the ratchet but kept the plastic - hey ho cant have everything I suppose

Hope I'm not tempting fate but I've had my Cameo since November and haven't had any problems with it either. It's handled every media type I've used so far.
For me, the machine and the software are a dream come true. I wish that was the same boast for everyone.... I'm so sorry for those of you who are experiencing problems.
Hear! hear! Jackie I have had my Cameo since November too and had no problems I have cut just about everything with it and absolutely loads it is used every day I just blow the bits out as and when needed in the way that Graphtec recommended somewhere on this forum I thought anyway I love my Cameo it is the best thing since sliced bread! LOL! Glad I am not the only one that is happy with it

Went back to using my replacement ratchet balde today and it is worse. I have only used it around a dozen times on copy paper and Supersmooth 240 gsm card. Blade set at 4 pressure 28 and it had not cut through in lots of different places even on a plain rectangle. I thought I could see white inside again so asked hubby to look. He agreed bits inside with no hope other than a pin to get them out.
Back to my Robo blade unit which has been going great with no problems since end of November.
Off to contact Graphtec again. I know they are good to replace the blade unit, but it is a right royal pain to have to parcel it up and get to the post office to post it. Our local one which was within walking distance closed a few years ago so it means getting the car out to make a special journey or waiting until next weekend.

What a pain Neries - I am still waiting for a replacement of the blade which I returned to Graphtec on 10th Feb. I have emailed Phil who has apologised for the delay, he says Brian Pickup has been on paternity leave and they have a bit of a backlog. Once I receive the replacement I intend to try Tina's tip about increasing the setting and reducing the pressure to see if I pick up less debris but I shan't be holding my breath, I really don't have much faith in the cameo blade. Like you I am using my trusty old robo blade at the moment.

Sylvia I have been using less pressure and a high number on the blade but it still not cutting properly. My first blade that went back marked my cutting mat when I first used it following my normal Robo settings. So with this blade my thickness/pressure settings have always been lower than the recommended ones in Studio and lower than the ones I used with my Robo.
Tonight I went back to my Print & Cut decoupage page changing the blade setting to 5, pressure 24 and still I had to send it for another cut. It's ridiculous that it won't cut it properly, supersmooth is not even thick enough for a base card. My Robo blade cuts it with no problem.
Sorry to hear you are having to wait for your replacement. You would think Graphtec would have someone else covering Brian's work.

Must be so infuriating for you. I'm not having a Cameo unless they improve the blade. Time is precious and I don't want to faff about.
The CR I was given just over a year ago cuts really well and I like the simple life

The ratchet blade probelm is infuriating but I still love my Cameo and would not change to another machine, even back to my Robo. As my spare Robo blade fits my Cameo it does not stop me and the Robo blade cuts thicker card on my Cameo in one cut, which my Robo took two to cut.

well that's not too bad then - I thought you would be more limited with the old style blade.

That was quick, my replacement blade came this morning.
This time they included the care of your blade sheet (the printed version of the pdf file) as well as the compliment slip. If this is their way of saying it is user error then I am not at all happy. I have followed all the recomendations posted by Phil and Tina on here with this blade.

I got my replacement last week - I think they must be getting a bit fed up with me 'cos there was no "care of your blade" and no compliments slip - just the blade in an envelope! I haven't started using my blade yet, but shall follow Tina's tip when I do - not holding my breath though - I just don't have any confidence in the cameo blade at all.
