    Question zip problems

I just wondered if anyone else has had this problem. I've just got a new computer running Windows7 and when I try to download '2 magpies' zip files it just says download or save as php file which won't then open. I can download them on another computer and import the zip into my new computer and it will un zip then. I wonder if anyone can advise.
    Many thanks & best wishes
    Ann xxx

Oh thank goodness Ann, I thought it was just me that this was happening to.

I suspect that it is something to do with the latest windows update from Microsoft which installed on my computer yesterday and gave me Internet Explorer 11 - but I don't know for sure.

Like you I found that any zip files I downloaded from UKS were .php files, so I downloaded them to my desktop, and then changed their file extension from .php to .zip and they opened fine after that.

I hope this might work for you too.

Oo, that's interesting Doreen, maybe it is to do with IE 11 then? If it is, I hope they'll fix it soon.

You might just need a pk unzip program, google MS unzip and it should give you a program to open the files, that way you can save them...

Doreen, was your daughter trying to download this particular file from UKS? I'm using Windows 7, and I've just done a Windows update and run a test with Internet Explorer 11 (which I don't normally use) and I'm also getting the php problem with Joyce's file, although I can download zip files from my own website correctly. Changing the file association allows me to open her file OK too.

Firefox is downloading as it should.

    Rosemary

PS I'll put a temporary note on Joyce's template warning people.

No Rosemary she wasn't trying to download Joyce's file she's not a crafter it was something she was trying to do on Facebook. I found something on the Internet which she tried and it worked for her the info said to reset IE settings to default. I don't know if it will solve this problem too. I don't know much about IE anymore because I've been using Firefox for years but a Google search will probably say how to do it.

As for the warning now why didn't I think of that
