Social Groups to delete

This is a long list, and not all of them. I don't trust the tools Doing a search for groups that have not been posted in since July of LAST YEAR and that have less than 1 post gives me this list. I can clearly see that there are a few that can go, shops that are closed, groups for events from years ago...but a couple of them I am not so sure about. Have a look and if you see a group that you are an active member of (or one you want to bring back to life) let me know - or confirm the ones that you KNOW can go.

If I don't see that there are any on this list in error then I will begin to trust the search tools and tackle the Uncategorized groups next!

I do know about many crops and shops that have closed but not all of them And I thought it possible that a shop group might have carried on as a group (in which case I would rename rather than delete a group.

At least no one is jumping up and saying that I have a wrong 'un in there My worry was the search wasn't working correctly and there was an active group in the list.

Hi MaryAnne. The Blooming Pages team disbanded long ago. The previous team leader handed over to me. I clicked on the delete button but get a message saying I can't. I stepped down as leader of the Inky Minxes at the end of last year. There was some talk of another teamie taking over, but the group has been silent since February so that could probably go too. Again I am unable to delete.

OK I think I've given enough time for people to look, so I am deleting all the ones from the posted list, and all with just one member, then I will have a look at the Uncategorized groups and the other one, who's name I forget....

I am HAPPY to create more categories, so if there should be one for any grouping of like groups (Organizing? Parenting? Craft selling??) then I will create it.

OK, the massive clean-up of unused SGs is kicking into high gear

If the last post in ANY Social Group has been prior to 1 July 2014 (over a year) then the group is going.

I should mention that a few groups seem to have a lot of info in them, especially those created for tools, like the BIA and SCAL. For now I am keeping them

All the listed groups have been deleted.
All groups with less that 2 members have been deleted
All groups with a last post earlier than 1 January 2014 have been deleted

If there are any groups that you are in charge of that can be deleted, let me know. I THINK I got all the ones mentioned in the post or sent via PM but if I missed one or two, just tell me again!

The only other thing to look at is getting your group in the right category. There are a ton of UNCATEGORIZED groups Groups are useful of people can find and join them. So have a look at the group categories and consider assigning one to your group, either existing group or newly created one.

9 groups Crops and Crop Chat Groups for recurring crops (including big yearly events)

4 groups Tools including software like SCAL and electronic or manual machines

December Daily was uncategorised so I have just changed it to Community/Social topics as that is the only category it seems to fit into, unless you can think of a better (or new) category? the DD social group mainly gets used from about September to Jan/Feb but it is a yearly thing

Maybe I'll have a look at the groups and see if they divide naturally into categories we don't have yet. I'd like to make them easier to use, and to identify. But pruning the dead wood will have helped a lot, I'm sure.
