    Post bound album help

It's obviously my day to ask questions... I opened up a post-bound album I was using in order to enlarge the spine as the album was not closing correctly. There were 2 cardboard shims in the hinge part which I did not put back in again when I (eventually) got the whole lot closed. Do these serve any purpose? Do I need to put them in again or can I sling them out?

Think they are used as spacer so if you have some thickish embellishments on your pages it stops them getting squished but may be wrong.

As crafty Sandra said, they are spacers so that if your pages are quite 3D, it holds them apart. The album won't drop apart without them in,

I have cut from one side to the hole in the shim so that I can push it into the album AFTER I screwed it back together and then found them. They occasionally need pushing back in but it saved the hassle of taking the album apart again (which is why I only buy the D-ring type now!)
