Does it have to be acid free? If not, have you tried Internacionale? (previously Au Natural). W H Smiths may have some index card boxes that may do the trick!
Basic Grey lunchboxes would work. They are toploading, and come with 6 dividers, cards and plastic pockets that fit the cards, so it would protect the recipes when they were being used. Provocraft ones are a similar shape I think, but don't come with bits in them.
if you do not want to buy on of those boxes..look in woolworths and they have a tin with 2 chocolate oranges in..would make a fab altered recipe box.. I am making one just like it.

my friend ails has just done that very thing
she made a paper hinge..covered the box in blitzen.
hung a tasel on the front..sprayed the plastic silver and the rubbed gold paste onto it..
and a flowere to the top..it looks really lush..

Amazing what us crafters can alter!
I must admit I now go through life and look at almost everything and wonder how I could alter/change it and what I could store in it or use it for!
