zipping a file help
Someone told me how to do it before and, of course, I didn't write it down.
I couldn't find my post either!!!!!!!
Now I'm stuck.
I right clicked in "my documents" and open a new folder> then dropped the files in. Now when I try to updoad them - I browse and the zip file appears where my documents should be to open.
Dah? does that make sense to you? - It doesn't to me?

Have you checked the size of you zip file against what is allowed in the upload window, could it be too large?

It isn't that. I think I zipped it wrong.
If someone could refresh my memory on the steps, I might get it!

The folder is in my documents. If I click on it, the two files I put in it are there.
The problem I am having is when I go to browse to find it, what comes up is
the zip file is in the "Look in" spot and the two files are listed underneath.
If I upload that, only the one file is there.
Can anyone make sense of this? My brain feels like mush!

When I zip anything I just right click on it and choose my zip program, I use a free one called Izarc, are you using the Windows zip option?
This is how to do it using Windows, I use XP I don't know if Vista is different, you could always click on the help menu
To create a zipped compressed folder
Open My Computer.
Double-click a drive or folder.
On the File menu, point to New, and then click Compressed (zipped) Folder.
Type a name for the new folder, and then press ENTER.

Hi When you zip a number of filles and then upload it it will upload as a single file which will contain multiple files which then has to be unzipped to return it to the original number of files
In xp it has a built in compressor
How To Zip a file or folder with xp
- Select the file or folder you want to compress.
- Right click and choose Send To (a window should slede out to the right)
- choose Compressed (zipped) folder
- the file or folder will compress.
- You should now see an icon with the same name plus a Zip
- It may even have a zipper on the folder.
- This is the compressed file that you can put on a server or send via email
---------------------------------------------
How To Unzip a file or folder
If you receive a Zip file, you need to uncompress or unzip the file to use it.
- Double-click on the Zip file.
- It should expand automatically.
- A file or folder with the same name (without the Zip) should appear.
- Drag the contents of the Zip file to the desktop (or another location). When you do this, you will be copying the information from the Zip file to the computer. This will be your working copy of the data from the Zip file.
- Close the Zip file window. You can keep the Zip file or delete it.

I think it was you that gave me the info last time.
I came across that "send to" last night" and the compressessed zip folder.
With these instructions I hope I can do it now.
I have to leave and take the kiddies to school. (I drive schoolbus) -
I will try it when I get back and let you know!!
