Probably a daft question, but have you actually got the blade locked into place properly in the holder?
    Cheers

Hi Frankie and welcome to the forum.

As Mike says, you have to make sure your blade is firmly locked into place.

Also, is your carrier sheet sticky enough? this can cause it not to cut too well.

Which machine do you have? Is it a second hand 200-20 or one of the newer machines (sorry can't remember the numbers for those)?

    Hi there

I am also new to this but I cut 160gsm pearl paper with the blue cap and it cuts perfectly, and the speed is on 10. Hope this helps. I do struggle with the thicker card, i haven't yet got this sussed! but I will! lol

hey guys...thanks for all the responses!

first in answer to the questions; blade was always locked and carrier sheet seems fine.

My new blade arrived today...it has mad a world of difference! I am convinced there was an issue with the first blade, but that said i don't think the instructions that come with the machine to work out the cap and cutting pressure are particularly good. This time i followed advice i got from barry of graphtec technical support. He told me that in order to determine the optimum pressure you need to build it up slowly, test cutting in between then save the settings for your chosen media. This took some time but it is now working like a dream! I am so happy to have it working!

Thanks to everyone for their advice...was really helpful! watch this space for my first craft rob projects!!! How exciting !

    xxx

i had the same probs as you called the help line and they said i was using the wrong settings or maybe the blade was broken, told them it a new machine and new blade so shouldnt be, i was asked to have a look at the blade so i pulled it out, and out popped this tiny tiny little washer, told them that this washer had fallen out, they told me not to worry as they dont put them in anymore, put blade back in and hay presto cuts fine now i think the little washer was stopping the blade turning as it should, not sure if you want to have a look at yours, but be warned once the little washer comes off you will never be able to get it back on if you wanted to, i didnt as the blade can now more freely, might be worth asking some of the more experianced users there advice on doing this, but like i say mine all works fine now and i had been struggling with it for months i was goin to sell it, now i love it
